Any outward bound traffic from a website is considered to be data transfer. For example, each time a web page, image, midi file, QuickTime video, sent mail, received mail etc... is downloaded, data transfer is generated.

An IP (Internet Protocol) Address is a unique number that defines a space on the Internet. For example: 67.18.123.114 is the unique IP for Global Hosting Services Inc.

With features such as the File Manager, Web Statistics, and Mail Manager among many others, you can take complete control of your site. We provide all the applications you need in one place and make them easy to use. From any Internet connection worldwide you can access your account and administer your web and email services.

If you are planning on using Microsoft FrontPage as your web-development tool, you will first need to enable FrontPage Extensions. Installing FrontPage extensions for your site does not install Microsoft FrontPage on your computer. FrontPage is a separate software application which you will need to purchase and install on your computer.

Your website will be available with and without entering www. into a web browser. Example: http://yourdomain.com and http://www.yourdomain.com

A sub-domain is also known as a 'third-level' domain and is a great way to create memorable web addresses for various areas of your site. For example you could have separate sub-domains such as mail.yourdomain.com and music.yourdomain.com.

Mail Manager is where you can manage all aspects of your email accounts. You can add, edit, and delete email accounts. You can also change the password on any of your email accounts.

The SSL Manager will allow you to generate SSL certificates, signing requests, keys and install SSL on the server. You need a dedicated IP address to install SSL on your account. Please contact support if you require a dedicated IP address.

With Cron Job Manager, you can setup commands that will run automatically on your server at set intervals that you specify.

The Resource Meter option provides a detailed view of disk-space and bandwidth usage for your account. It also includes detailed statistics on Subdomains, Parked Domains, Addon Domains, Mysql databases, SQL Disk usage, Disk space available, Email accounts, Email forwarders, Autoresponders, Email filters, Mailing lists, and FTP accounts.

This option will allow you to edit your domain name's MX Records (mail server) directly from your control panel.

Redirect URL will allow you to setup a redirection so that a user that types in one URL will automatically be sent to another URL. If setup to forward your domain to an existing website on the web, visitors will be transported instantly to the URL of your choice.

This option will allow you to automatically park domains on your domain through the control panel. Domain Parking is available to you at no cost, so it can be a great source of profits for your business.

Domain Pointing allows you to use your current web space resources for additional domain names. Pointed domains can have their own, distinct content. These domains share the same IP address, disk-space, and bandwidth transfer of the main account. Pointed domains do not have separate email functions.

Using this option, you can limit the amount of access users have to your site. You can specify a username and password for the directory you are protecting. Each protected directory can have multiple users (each with different passwords if you prefer) who have access to it.

HotLink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files on your website.

You can create customized error pages, so when a user types in the wrong URL, or enters the incorrect information, you can have nice looking error pages matching your web site instead of the plain ones supplied by the system.

The index manager will allow you to turn indexes on or off for a directory. If indexes are off, people will not be able to see what files are in a directory that lacks an index file.

This feature will allow you to block any range of ips you wish from accessing your web site. You can also enter a fully qualified domain name, and the IP Deny Manager will attempt to resolve it to an IP address for you.

MIME types determine how specific files should be handled by the browser.

Apache handlers determine how specific files should be handled by your server.

This option will allow you to perform a Traceroute or Domain name Lookup.

The Search Engine Submission option is a powerful tool that allows you to quickly list your website on some of the most popular web search indexes. This is an effective way of ensuring that your site gets optimal audience and web traffic. While you can submit your site to search engines without the aid of this option, it can be a very time consuming process.

This tool allows you to backup your website files and databases. You can also restore your files or databases from your backups.

POP (Post Office Protocol) is the Internet standard for sending and receiving email through a POP3 email server. POP3 email accounts are accounts that you setup using your domain name, i.e. sales@yourdomain.com. Your POP3 email accounts can be managed in your control panel under Mail Manager. With your own independent SMTP mail server you will be able to send mail directly from your domain name.

The Mailing List option will allow you to create and manage your own mailing lists, which is an efficient way of communicating with many people at one time.

With a web-based email program, you can log in to your email from anywhere in the world. As long as you have Internet access and a browser, you will be able to check your email, compose new messages, reply, forward, attach files from your hard drive and more. Best of all, it\'s easy to use. You don\'t need to configure any email programs, it simply works. Alternatively you can use any of the popular email programs available today such as Eudora or Outlook to send and receive email from your PC. We provide three WebMail applications in the control panel, Neomail, Horde, and SquirrelMail.

This feature will allow you to setup and manage filters on your email accounts.

Email forwarding options are available if you need specific addresses to be forwarded to different addresses on the internet. For example, email addressed to webmaster@yourdomain.com could forward to an account at AOL, but sales@yourdomain.com could forward to a Prodigy account. Email Forwarding can be setup in your control panel.

A Domain Forwarder redirects all mail from any of your domains to another domain. For example, if you setup bob.com to redirect sam.com, any email send to any address at bob.com will be sent to the corresponding user at sam.com (bob@bob.com would be sent to bob@sam.com).

Auto-Responders reply to incoming email by automatically sending out an email to the sender. Auto-Responders can be setup in your control panel.

This option will allow you to enter an email address that you wish to see the delivery path.

This option will allow you to edit your domains MX Records directly from the control panel.

PGPMail is the FormMail script, except that it encrypts the email via PGP before it is sent. This option should be used in conjunction with the PGP and FormMail options. You will need to upload your PGP key before you can use this script.

All customers have 24/7 FTP access to their site. File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is the standard method used to upload or download website files from your local system to your hosting account so you can build your website.

File Manager is a very powerful tool. It allows you to manipulate all the files in your website. You are able to create, delete, and move your files. You can also upload files from your local PC to the server in File Manager. You can also edit the HTML in any of your files with this tool. Everything you need to manage your site can be found in this feature.

Anonymous FTP is a method by which your users can upload and download files to and from your website. To make use of Anonymous FTP, your users would need to use the FTP utility included in their operating system, or use one of several available FTP programs, such as WS-FTP or Cute FTP.

MySQL is a database engine that you can use with your website. You will be able to add/edit/delete tables, fields, and values. You can also run queries on the database if you need to.

phpMyAdmin is a web-based tool written in PHP that you can use to administer MySQL databases. It can create and drop databases, create/drop/alter tables, delete/edit/add fields, execute any SQL statement, manage keys on fields, manage privileges and export data into various formats.

We support all common media types on our servers including Real Networks Audio/Video which is a client-server based streaming media delivery system for the Internet. We not only provide the server extensions but also include step by step instructions on how to include Real Audio/Video in your web pages. You cannot stream live content through our servers but you can stream Real Audio/Video files.

This option will allow you to install osCommerce on your domain. OsCommerce is an online store e-commerce solution developed by the open source community. It is a feature packed out-of-the-box installation that allows store owners to setup, run, and maintain their online store with minimum effort and with no costs or license fees.
